The Stonehenge road plan has long been the most controversial road in the UK. The campaign protects Stonehenge raising a big concern about how to manage our precious heritage. However, the destination puts enormous pressure on locations that come at the cost of tradition and culture. Facing up to these inevitable physical changes, is augmented reality (AR) a possible option giving new life to rural tourism? This dissertation proposes 2 different solutions that dissolve the spatial discrepancies and the neglected aspects into opportunities of rural rejuvenation.
巨石陣公路計劃一直是英國最有爭議的 一項道路工程。 其中的保護巨石陣運動對於我們如何管理寶貴的文化遺產引起了巨大關注。 可是以傳統和文化為代價，旅遊目的地為整個地區帶來巨大壓力。 面對這些不可避免的變化，增強現實（AR）可否為農村旅遊業注入新的活力？ 本論文提出了兩項解決方案，將現時一些不合理的空間和被忽視的元素轉化為農村復興的機遇。

1) FOGHENGE - Interactive Projected
AR Inspired by the mist clout art installations, FOGHENGE is an interactive fog installation featured with projected AR. It creates a fog screen encloses the Stonehenge to regenerate the history of Stonehenge and mitigate the visual impacts brought by A303 and the Private Road (A344).

參考了世界各地不同的薄霧裝置藝術，FOGHENGE是一種帶有投影式AR的交互薄霧裝置。 在不影響重要景觀的前提下，它是一組包圍巨石陣的薄霧投影螢幕，向旅客展示巨石陣的歷史變遷，並減輕A303公路和私家路（A344）帶來的視覺衝擊。

2) AR BARROWS – AR mobile application
Present, most tourists would only visit the Stonehenge and its tourist center. Dozens of barrows around Stonehenge have been neglected since many of them have faded away. AR BARROWS is an AR mobile application that amalgamates the ancient cave art and the neglected pre-historic landscape around the stone circle. Through the app, it utilizes a smartphone camera and GPS to visualize the cave art painting and evoke tourist’s curiosity. Each barrow has a different cave art painting that allows tourists to imagine how ancient people live in this region. In the end, it is expected to relink the connection between the visitors and the neglected landscape ,and mitigate the problem caused by the overcrowding.
2）AR BARROWS – AR移動應用程式
目前，大多數參觀者只會參觀巨石陣石圈和其遊客中心，而忽略了巨石陣周圍數十個圓形墓塚，因為其中大部分墓塚已經隨千年風化而漸漸消失。 AR BARROWS是一個構想中的AR移動應用程式，可將古代洞穴藝術和巨石陣石圈附近被忽略的史前景觀融合在一起。 通過智能手機攝像頭和GPS，該應用程式令洞穴壁畫在遺址中可視化並喚起遊客的好奇心。 每個圓形墓穴上都有一幅不同的洞穴藝術畫，使遊客可以想像石器時代的人如何在巨石陣生活。 最終，這設計希望重新連接人們與被忽視景觀之間的聯繫，並緩解了旅遊熱點人滿為患的問題。
