Tebay is a historical Sheep Farming Area surrounded by the beautiful Howgill Fells. In the past, traditional practices such as cutting trees for firewood and grazing domestic animals destroyed all upland woodland and formed the open landscape, stretching to the horizon. Layers of stone wall and deer fence enclose large pieces of land. Walking in the farmland is a constrained experience that most fields are forbidden to the outsiders by physical barriers.   To make a change of the subsidized upland farms, ‘ A Sharing Rural ‘ is a manifesto that proposes an ideal collective living style. 3 strategic areas are designed to release the common land layer by layer. The isolated farm settlements will be grouped to form the co-living core, co-working farm, and upland conservation zone achieving the ideas of rotational grazing, fruit/flower tourism and grouse shooting for the dedicated hillwalker.
