Kwun Tong was an important base for manufacturing industries in the past and is now transforming into a core business district (CBD). With the new coming working population, many old streets are facing problems of the poor and congested environment. In May 2014, the Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO) commissioned the “Pedestrian Environment Improvement Scheme for Transformation of Kwun Tong Business Area (KTBA) Feasibility Study” to create a  “walkable” and pleasant pedestrian environment.

 

Located on the edge of Kwun Tong Business District,  K-cube is a forbidden space where has been empty for many years. The design utilizes vertical space to provide open space in response to the community needs.  Also, it improves the pedestrian connections as well as strengthens the accessibility of the district by utilizing the back lanes among the industrial buildings.

觀塘過去曾是製造業重要的基地，今天正漸漸轉型為核心商業區（CBD）。隨著新的工作人口的到來，許多舊街道都面臨著環境惡劣和擁擠的問題。 2014年5月，起動九龍東辦事處（EKEO）展開「觀塘商貿區的行人環境改善可行性研究」，為行人創造了宜人的步行環境。

 

位於觀塘商業區的邊緣，K-cube是一個空置多年並封閉的空間。設計利用垂直空間為觀塘社區提供了一個公共開放空間。此外，通過利用工業建築之間的後巷以改善行人連接，並增強了區域的可達性。
