Visitor arrivals to Hong Kong have recorded a drop year-on-year in 2016. It has been discussed the lack of new tourist attractions leads to the setback of tourism. Utilizing undeveloped countryside becomes a promising solution to ease off dense tourism while better protect the rural landscape. The easily accessible countryside is always the first choice of visitors to pick up the joy of nature, of which Nam Sang Wai is a popular rural destination. Once Nam Sang Wai was the base of agriculture. It produced famous farm products such as Yuen Long See Mew rice and Jinga Shrimp. However, many agricultural practices have faded away. Its site configuration also cannot respond to tourist needs.“Tourism + Agriculture” comes up with a new perspective to transform this productive landscape. The design is going to diversify the existing land use. The comeback of Gei Wai and some newly added tourist facilities such as hostel,  bird-watching facilities, and boardwalk are proposed to celebrate its rich history of agriculture.

在2016年，訪港旅客人數錄得比去年同期下跌。有人認為旅遊業受挫是由於缺乏新的旅遊景點而導致。利用未被開發的農村土地成為一個可行的解決方案, 以緩解旅遊景點飽和的問題，同時更好地保護農村景觀。而可達度高的近郊景點一直是很多遊客感受大自然的首選，當中南生圍更是一個頗受歡迎的郊遊目的地。它曾經是一個主要的農業基地生產遠近馳名的元朗絲苗米和基圍蝦等農產品，可是現時當地的農業已經漸漸消失。此外，其地區配套也不能滿足遊客的需求。「旅遊+農業」帶出了一個全新的視角來改變這後農業景觀。為了紀念其豐富的農業歷史，該設計提出了復興基圍和加建一些新的旅遊設施，如水上旅館，觀鳥設施和步行道, 希望為現有土地用途帶來更多元的可能。
